Welcome to Thursday Edmonton, and we hope you’re looking forward to the long weekend as much as we are! If you’re not quite there yet, don’t worry, because we’ve rounded up some things that would be hard not to get excited about. Let’s check them out, hey?

Here are 10 of the best things to do this long weekend in and around Edmonton.

TOGETHER AGAIN CONCERT SERIES

This is the last weekend to check out this ongoing concert series, which has shifted from a table booking approach to single tickets. USS and Kiesza are the headliners for this weekend, so we’re sure it’s going to be a high-energy experience, to say the least.

When: Sunday, September 5th
Where: Edmonton Exhibition Lands
Cost: $59+ per person

EDMONTON CORN MAZE

Young and old alike can appreciate the value of a good corn maze during the start of fall. And honestly, the Edmonton Corn Maze is amongst the best in the country. Massive, and featuring a new design every year, a trip here is going to be a breath of fresh air this weekend.

When: Open throughout the weekend
Where: 26171 Garden Valley Road, Spruce Grove
Cost: $13.50+ for GA

FORT EDMONTON PARK

Meanwhile, two major Edmonton attractions are only open for a few more days! First is Fort Edmonton Park, which reopened earlier this following a massive renovation and update. Know what the means? More stuff to enjoy, including a brand new Indigenous Peoples Experience exhibit.

When: Open until September 6th
Where: 7000 143 Street NW

UKRAINIAN CULTURAL HERITAGE VILLAGE

This is your last weekend to step into the past with a visit to the Ukrainian Cultural Heritage Village. This old-school attraction features more than 40 early Albertan buildings that have been restored and cared for, and the result is a super weird, but super interesting, stroll down memory lane.

When: Open until September 6th
Where: Highway 16 E, Lamont County
Cost: $15 for GA

ENJOY A SYMPHONY UNDER THE STARS

Ready to cap off the summer outside? Well, the Symphony Under the Stars series is sure to be worth the effort. This ongoing concert series takes place in Hawrelak Park, where you’ll get to hear the amazing Edmonton Symphony Orchestra live.

When: Showtimes until September 6th
Where: Hawrelak Park
Cost: $30+

CHECK OUT AN IN-PERSON PLAY

Live plays are back at the Citadel Theatre! Currently showing is Mary’s Wedding, which is a prairie romance set during the time of the First World War, but reimagined through a Métis perspective. Movies have been great this past year and a bit, don’t get us wrong, but this would be a nice switch up.

When: Showtimes until September 12th
Where: 9828 101 A Avenue
Cost: $34.65+

BE AMAZED AT A NIGHT CIRCUS

For another amazing indoor event, be sure to check out Cirque De La Lune, taking place at the Starlite Room. This adults-only evening promises ‘revelry, song, dance and entertainment’. With some tasty snacks and drinks to enjoy while it goes down, of course.

When: Friday, September 3rd
Where: 10030 102 Street Northwest
Cost: $43.45

DIVE INTO LE BURGER WEEK

That’s right folks, Le Burger Week is back. This nationwide festival has quite a few Edmonton spots hopping in, and they’re offering a full range of mouthwatering burgers to try. Treat yourself for dinner this weekend and see which one strikes your fancy!

When: On throughout the weekend
Where: Click the link above for participating restaurants

AL FRESCO ON 4TH

You’ve only got a couple of weekends left to enjoy this amazing local market! Al Fresco combines food trucks, local vendors, and nearby restaurants to turn a little space into a big experience. If there’s a sunny morning this weekend, we highly recommend you check it out.

When: Saturday, September 4th
Where: 104th Street Promenade
Cost: Free to access

DRIVE OUT TO THE GARDEN

Full honesty- we think that the U of A Botanic Garden is best enjoyed during the spring or the fall. For fall visits, we get to see the leaves turn magical shades of orange and red, and the weather can be perfect for a leisurely stroll.

When: Open throughout the weekend
Where: Parkland County, Alberta
Cost: $18.75

Those are our picks for this long weekend, Edmonton! Have fun and stay safe out there.
