Another trip around the sun wouldn’t be complete without one of the city’s most popular events bringing bright lights and holiday vibes. ZOOLIGHTS, presented by Olympia Trust Company, is returning to the Wilder Institute / Calgary Zoo for its 25th year. This year’s ZOOLIGHTS, running until January 2, 2022, promises a ‘bigger, brighter, and more magical’ experience than ever, and it’s got the chops (and lights) to back it up.

Nightly from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm, twinkling interactive displays and choreographed lights dance at every turn of the park, where an astounding 200 light figurines can be found in total. Guests can expect the return of fan-favourites like the skating rink, axe throwing, and fire pits placed throughout the zoo to cozy up to. Add a tasty hot chocolate in your mitts, and you’ve already got a lovely evening at ZOOLIGHTS.

But not so fast…

The Calgary Zoo has added a lineup of brand new sensory experiences to get the holiday feels flowing, including a 25th anniversary Memory Lane with an all new “Tunnel of Light”, and the Nutcracker in the Enmax Conservatory.  From there, venture over to a touching new tribute to Canada’s wetland, or pop by for a gift or snack at the holiday Zoo Market.  Another new addition, sure to delight classic Wilder Institute / Calgary Zoo lovers and newcomers alike, is the “Dinos in the Dark” experience.
