Be honest, when’s the last time you saw a movie outside of your home? We’re scared to share our answer, that’s for sure. That’s why the Festival of Winter Cinema sounds like it could be right up our alley this week. Things kicked off yesterday, and will run until Saturday! Here’s a little more info.

The International Fest of Winter Cinema is a yearly event that showcases the best movies to do with, you guessed it, the winter. While pretty much anything is considered, the focus tends to be on Indigenous and immigrant narratives, international films, and films that deal with the ongoing effects of climate change.

Then, on top of that, all the screenings are hosted outdoors! While it might not be as plushy as a theatre, we have to give them props for giving us a truly immersive setting for watching. After all, it’s that much easier to identify with a mountain climber or someone if you’re already sitting in freezing temperatures.

Although, we might get lucky this week and have a few nicer evenings to take advantage of. Either way, you can learn all about this unique film fest on their website!
