Okay, so camping isn’t for everyone – but the outdoors are! We strongly believe that you don’t have to be a Backyardigan, a bird watcher, bike enthusiast, or an avid hiker to appreciate the beauty of nature, you just might need somewhere comfortable to do so. A perfect place for this? Alberta’s Elk Island Retreat, a glampground with incredible amenities and all the comforts of home.
Located only 45 minutes outside of Edmonton and 3 hours from Calgary, the Elk Island Retreat offers a variety of different woodsy experiences great for everyone!

For those who don’t want to stay overnight, the park offers a luxury picnic experience that includes everything from bottles of wine and cushions to games, a speaker, and even a handcrafted meat and cheese board.
To accommodate those who are a little more seasoned, they also have RV Sites, tipis, and yurts, and finally – for those who are only willing to take to the bush for something special, they have fully furnished geodomes.
With a mini-fridge, all of your kitchenware, a covered barbeque, a picnic table, and a Nespresso coffee maker included, geodomes are available for rent at a max of 2 nights per couple.

Choose between their incredible private Dark SkyDome without a covering – handy for those starry nights – or their Solaris Dome that has a roof covering and is among others staying in the area as well.
Each little hut is beautifully furnished and will make for a one-of-a-kind experience – though it certainly won’t be free!
Luckily, this particular stay won’t cost you too much. Depending on where you choose to rent prices can range from $48 – $219 a night or $290 (for 2 people) per picnic.
