YYC, this one is for you! Since announcing Alberta’s Open For Summer Lottery, the government has added several additional prizes to their huge draw all of which were chosen with the general public in mind, but this one is all about Calgary – more specifically the 2021 Stampede!

As we’re sure that you’re already aware, last week Premier Jason Kenney announced that the province would hold a contest with big prizes and an even bigger payoff.

The rules are simple! Get immunized and enter to win one of 3 of their $1 million dollar jackpots or one of 40 travel packages courtesy of WestJet and Air Canada. Now, however, there’s even more incentive!

Today, the government added 260 Calgary Stampede family admission, rodeo, performance and ride packages, as well as 375 general admission tickets for the July event.

“Offering Albertans the chance to win admission to one of the province’s iconic events shows we really are open for summer,” Kenney said,  “I tip my hat to Stampede organizers for their hard work and determination in getting the Greatest Outdoor Show on Earth back up and running, and to all Albertans who are getting their vaccines to help put this pandemic behind us.”

As of Monday, June 21st 70.6% of Albertans have been vaccinated with their first dose and 1.5 million people have entered to win.

These people have all contributed to the milestone needed to move forward into the third stage of Alberta’s open for summer plan which will see that all COVID restrictions be lifted – from indoor gatherings to maskless movie theatres, so really – even if you don’t win, you still win.

Either way, we’ll all find out on July 1st when the first of many lottery winners will be announced in celebration of being open for summer – so get ready, Alberta! Things are going to get pretty crazy.
