Ready to try a brand new restaurant on the iconic Granville Island? You’re in luck, because Alimentaria Mexicana has officially announced its soft opening. While we wait for the rest of the concept to open, you can enjoy some delicious treats and drinks in the meanwhile. Here’s the scoop.

Alimentaria Mexicana is the latest concept from Ernesto Gomez, who might be better known as the person behind mainstays like Nuba and Chancho Tortilleria. Alimentaria is definitely the most ambitious project yet, though. When fully open, guests can enjoy multiple food concepts, a Mexican food market, and even an education centre for making authentic Mexican cuisine.

But, until then, you can get a sneak peek with a trip to their newly-opened patio and dining room at Cantina. The soft opening menu looks like a delicious taste of what’s to come, as well. Think things like chips and guacamole, carne asada tacos, and even more creative options like grilled cactus or a beet ceviche.

Pair that with a refreshing pitcher (yes, you can buy pitchers) of their craft cocktails, and you’ve got an incredible way to cap off a trip to Granville Island with some pals.
