They say eyes are the window to the soul. We don’t know about that, but ‘window’ sure makes a lot of sense. Our eyes are one of the primary ways we experience the world. So, naturally, we want to take good care of them, right?

World Sight Day is an international day of awareness coordinated by the International Agency for the Prevention of Blindness (IAPB). It’s a day that’s meant to inform and educate Canadians on maintaining their eye health.

The Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS), the national authority on eye and vision care in Canada, recognizes World Sight Day 2023 on Thursday, October 12th.

But this fall is different, and that’s because the COS is running a contest to raise awareness and encourage Canadians to take charge of their eye health.

See The Possibilities ‘Uniquely Canadian’ Contest

The best part of being Canadian is all the beautiful sights we get to see in this country. So that’s why this year, to celebrate eye health and healthy vision, the Canadian Ophthalmological Society (COS) is announcing a national photo contest: See The Possibilities ‘Uniquely Canadian.’

Contest Details

This contest is all about showcasing what Canada looks like through YOUR eyes. Whether it’s hiking the summit of your local mountain, camping with your family as the leaves change colours, or baking butter tarts with your grandma over a well-worn stove.

Capture your take on the spirit of the Great White North and share the beauty we’re privileged to see.

There will be 2 winning photos, one selected by the COS panel and one by popular vote. Both winners will receive a $300 Amazon gift card each – so you can stock up on more photography supplies!

Submission cut-off: Tuesday, October 3rd at 11:59 PM ET

Voting begins: Wednesday, October 4th at 12:00 AM ET
Voting closes: Thursday, October 19th at 11:59 PM ET

Capture what Canada looks like to you. Submit your photo to the competition, and take care of those pretty peepers!
