Canada’s iconic talking tree is about to wake up for the holidays

Bright lights, tinsel, and ribbon help make the season bright, but Woody the Christmas Tree in Nova Scotia is a festive decoration unlike any other.

A colourful tree with plenty to say, this charming evergreen lives in Dartmouth’s Mic Mac Mall, just 15 minutes from Halifax.

What Makes Woody Unique?

Unlike most, the shopping centre’s green giant actually talks to its guests while they browse for Christmas goodies, then takes a long nap in the winter months.

With a little help from visitors, though, Woody will open his blinking eyes this November during a celebration they call “Wake up Woody”— a favourite among locals.

Wake Up Woody!

“Help Wake Up Woody with a morning of Live Entertainment, Face Paint, Glitter Tattoos and of course, The Waking Up of Woody the Talking Christmas Tree!” they write on their website.

“The fun begins at 10 AM on November 23, 2024!”

In the area and want to check him out for yourself?

Dress comfortably because this year, the event is a PJ Party!

After that, Woody’s regular visiting hours will run from Monday to Saturday between 12 pm and 7 pm and Sunday between 12 pm and 5 pm until December 23rd.

Enjoy and happy shopping.

Whether in Nova Scotia or a province far, far away, it’s fun to know that there’s a Christmas tree with a voice—we’ve got a lot of questions about where we should and shouldn’t hang our ornaments.
