Here’s everything you can expect at the Whyte Light Up free winter festival.
Things to see
See Edmonton’s iconic Old Strathocona district in a whole new light. McIntyre Park will be dappled in twinkling lights and sparkling colours. Everything from the gazebo to trees and sky is decked in its holiday best. You’ll have an amazing time just walking the streets and snapping pictures, but that’s only the start!
Things to do
You can expect a medley of indoor and outdoor activities throughout the evening. There will be live music and street performances outdoors along with winter activities that don’t shy away from the cold. If you do need to heat up, the festival’s indoor partner venues are located at the Edmonton Public Library, The Old Strathcona Farmer’s Market, and the Fringe Theatre. There you’ll find crafts for the little ones and ticketed shows!
Old Strathcona’s iconic streetcar will also be adorned in festive finery for photo ops and a short holiday ride along the line. All festival activities are free to enjoy so bring your family and friends.
Getting There
There will be parking stalls, street parking, and a designated parking lot by the Farmer’s Market along Gateway Blvd and 83 Ave. If you like to plan ahead, take a look at the Old Strathcona parking map for more insight.
