These Vancouver museums are offering pay-what-you-can admission for one day only this December

A festive outdoor market is coming to Kits Beach next month that is sure to put you in the holiday spirit. Picture sweet treats and cozy vibes by the sea as you peruse a variety of locally made gifts for your loved ones. Live music flows through the winter market, and your cup is full in more ways than one. The upcoming Winter Market at Vanier Park is not just an opportunity to sip and shop—it’s a great time to visit one of the three surrounding museums at the park!
For one day only, the Museum of Vancouver, H.R. MacMillan Space Centre, and Vancouver Maritime Museum are all offering pay-what-you-can admission, granting wider access to all of their exhibits. These three cultural venues are a must-visit any time of year, but museum hopping is definitely the perfect cold or rainy-weather activity.
Whether it’s stargazing at the Planetarium Star Theatre, exploring one of the world’s great Arctic vessels, or checking out the wide array of feature exhibits at the Museum of Vancouver, you’ll have no shortage of fascinating local and natural history to explore here.
Fancy playing a round of dress up? Guests of all ages can don Shakespearean-era-inspired attire at Bard on the Beach’s costume corner.
So mark your calendars and get ready to enjoy a variety of family-friendly programming throughout the day.
The Winter Market will take place from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Sunday, Dec. 7, 2025.
