Music lovers of all types and calibres, we come bearing some super awesome news. The beloved City of Surrey is working towards supporting and fostering the Surrey music industry & scene. The initiative aims at creating new opportunities that support artists, venues, economic growth, tourism, and investment. And while this alone would be music to our ears, the way they are doing it is even better.

City of Surrey has been working with a consultant since last October to design a strategy that would take the Surrey music industry forward. But they also want the residents and music stakeholders to be able to contribute to the efforts by way of feedback and recommendations.

They recently launched a community engagement website, where you (musician, expert, business or community member) can voice your opinions, give feedback on the pandemic and current music economy and share recommendations on how the Surrey music industry can be improved going forward!

“We are excited to invite Surrey musicians, music businesses and residents to provide their input on how music can strengthen communities, drive employment and stimulate economic growth,” said Mayor Doug McCallum. “Feedback from community engagement will help identify priorities, provide directions, and anticipate challenges ahead in developing and supporting our music ecosystem,” he added.

All you have to do is take the survey- in-person or virtually. In-person, you can take the survey during the Earth Day celebration, Party for the Planet, on April 30 at the Surrey Civic Plaza. Virtually, you can take it now here to give your thoughts on the the Surrey music industry!

And it gets even better!!
