This Ontario waterfall is “the wildest and most scenic” in its area

If there’s one place in Ontario you want to be when the air is crisp and the colours are changing, it’s the Muskoka area. Bracebridge, Ontario has plenty of outdoor gems and one of them is Wilson’s Falls, a waterfall surrounded by lush forest and exposed rock of the Canadian Shield.
Described as the “wildest and most scenic” falls along the north branch of the Muskoka River, it’s a must-see.
Getting there
Wilson’s Falls are in the heart of Bracebridge which will take you about two and half hours to get to by car from Toronto.
Once you arrive at the trail, there is a parking area nearby where you can leave your car.
Now, time to embark on the trail.
The falls

The hike to the falls is half the fun.
The trail follows along the edge of the Muskoka River and as you continue along, the landscape changes from a lush forest to pieces of exposed rock of the Canadian Shield.
Keep in mind that the total trail length is 3.7 km and is considered to be moderate in difficulty because of the length. If you’re up for it, the hike is worth the views.
The cascades flow into the river taking an S-curve at the base of the falls – stunning!
During autumn, the forest that surrounds the falls is decorated in the changing hues of red, yellow and orange. This is a great place to visit before the weather gets too cold and makes for a perfect day trip away from the city.
The town of Bracebridge has plenty of spots to check out (and grab a bite to eat at) before you head home such as Lake of Bays Bracebridge Barrelhouse.
An autumn adventure awaits!
