Here’s where to watch the total solar eclipse online in the U.S

Happy solar eclipse day, Seattle! While it is a big astronomical day, the weather is currently overcast, which is less than ideal for the region. So if you’re looking for where to watch the total solar eclipse online instead, we’ve got you.

The April 8th event is “a total solar eclipse” that will cross North America, passing over Mexico, the United States, and Canada, according to NASA.

“A total solar eclipse happens when the Moon passes between the Sun and Earth, completely blocking the face of the Sun. The sky will darken as if it were dawn or dusk,” it states.

In Seattle, we are expecting a partial solar eclipse that lasts for 1 hour and 42 minutes, according to Time & Date.

While the Department of Astronomy at the University of Washington is hosting a viewing experience for the upcoming partial solar eclipse, the National Weather Agency is forecasting cloudy skies in the region.
