Vancouver’s holiday market for ‘weirdos’ is going to be bigger and ‘more unhinged’ than ever

The Weirdos Holiday Market is now in its ninth year in Vancouver, and the offbeat pop-up promises to be bigger and “more unhinged” than ever. Attracting creators and artists offering all kinds of handmade wonders, the market is a great place to search for holiday gifts that truly stand out from the rest. Visitors will have two weekends to peruse the work of over 80 artists, including 20 who are joining the market for the first time this year.

“The market is for people who want to be delighted, startled, and maybe a little obsessed with something they didn’t even know existed five minutes earlier,” explains Rachel Zottenberg, the market’s founder. With a rotating line-up of vendors each weekend, you’re sure to find something strange, surprising, and one-of-a-kind.

All kinds of curated art prints, stickers, apparel, patches, jewelry, candles, and body products will be up for grabs, as will more oddity items like antique taxidermy and mounted insects.

Guests will also be treated to live sideshow entertainment from Neil E. Dee and his Danger Thrill Show, and can snap a photo with “Weirdo Santa” in his spooky mask.

You can also get a tarot card reading in between perusing the market by Kat of The Real Witchery and fuel up with eats from a local food truck parked outside.

Each weekend kicks off with a Friday Night Market for guests aged 19 and over, where things might get a little cheeky. Guests can expect some R-rated curios in addition to an on-site bar and DJs.

Returning favourites to the market include Punk Rock Pastries by award-winning chef Hollie Fraser, ritual candles by Brutally Beautiful, Mala Yaga’s mini mushroom garden protectors, deconstructed doll head sculptures by UltraViolet Oddities, and pieces by Inner Wolf Jewelry.

Here are just a few new artists and makers to look forward to this year:

• Rebecca Chaperon: Paintings inspired by eerie fairytales and unsettling dreams.
• Mel Chop’s Oddity Shoppe: A curated collection of ethically sourced skulls, bones, and furs, alongside distinctive decor and gothic trinkets.
• Broken Glass: Occult-themed stained glass art
• Amanda Meowzen: A multi-material illustrator, sculptor, and tattoo artist who creates digital sculptures
• Sind Studio: Transforms porcelain into playful, sculptural ceramics
• Regal Beast Restorations & Relics: A sustainably sourced collection of oddities, relics and creepy crafts

Admission and info

The series of beautifully bizarre markets will take place at The Russian Hall from Friday, Dec. 5 to Sunday, Dec. 7, and Friday, Dec. 12 to Sunday, Dec. 14, 2025, running from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. On Fridays, however, there will be extended night market hours (19+) until 10 p.m.

Admission is priced at $5 per person for Saturdays and Sundays, and $6 for Friday Night Markets.
