Fall adventures await in Ontario. For a true woodland excursion, head to Egan Chutes Provincial Park. It is home to three beautiful cascading waterfalls, which are found at the end of an old forest road.
Your fall excursion can be found about three hours away from Toronto, east towards Ottawa. Egan Chutes Provincial Park is a non-operating park which means there are no activities or facilities here.
According to Ontario Parks, it’s actually a nature reserve and protects a section of the York River.
In the fall season, its waters reflect the reds, golds, and burgundies of the changing fall leaves, and according to Ontario Parks, it makes it a “picture-perfect postcard.”
This is a popular park for birding, hiking, and taking a peaceful stroll. It’s home to three cascades but you’ll have to embark on a short yet rewarding hike.
According to Ontario Parks, the short walk is found along an unmaintained road that will take visitors to the three picturesque waterfalls.
It’s important to note that swimming is absolutely not allowed and since there are no guard rails, you must walk with caution.
Gem enthusiasts may notice several minerals on the grounds of the park, including nepheline, sodalite, biotite, zircon, and blue corundum.
It’s worth noting that mineral collecting is prohibited. These minerals are meant to stay as they are in their natural environment. Save the earth!
If you’re itching for an adventure, this is the place to be, especially for the fall season.
