The best places to watch the dazzling Lyrids Meteor shower in Toronto

Here’s an awesome way to beat the boredom this spring: check out the Lyrids Meteor Shower. This springtime occasion is a natural wonder you won’t want to miss.

This year, the peak season will be kicking off on April 15th, with the most meteor viewings expected on April 21st.

So where will you be catching the action? Well, the city does have quite a bit of light pollution, so seeing the Lyrids Meteor Shower in Toronto isn’t the easiest thing.

That said, we do have enough spots for an evening walk that you should be able to get a good look.

These are 5 of the best places to watch the dazzling Lyrids Meteor Shower in Toronto.

CHERRY BEACH

This gorgeous waterfront beach is usually pretty quiet in the evenings, so it’s the perfect spot to catch the show. Bring a blanket, some snacks, and enjoy the insane views of the skyline while you’re there.

The spring ferry schedule is about to hit so get ready to bop on over to the Toronto Islands. There’s plenty of greenery and beach space to stake out your spot. Plus, it’s outside of the downtown core so your view will have minimal light pollution.

HUMBER BAY PARK

If you’re over in the west end, be sure to check out this awesome gem. There are loads of greenery and waterfront sights to explore. Plus, the on-site butterfly habitat is a must-see this spring. We suggest hitting that during the day and extending your stay to the evening for the meteor shower.

SCARBOROUGH BLUFFS

This location has some insane views even when the sky is not lit up, so you know it’s a must-hit for this. Travel to the outer edges of Toronto to enjoy beaches, trails, and of course awesome views. The distance from downtown means you can enjoy the sky without too much light pollution getting in your way.

Where: 1 Brimley Road S

MARILYN BELL PARK

The beautiful boardwalk makes this location worth the trip. Take an evening walk and look up to enjoy the Lyrids Meteor Shower from here. Its west-end waterfront location is great for the occasion.

So look to the skies this April and enjoy all that the Lyrids Meteor Shower has to offer! It’s not every day the sky puts on a whole spectacle for us.
