Wa Na Wari’s free community meals offer a taste of African diasporic food this month

A great way to learn about culture is through food. During Black History Month and into March, Wa Na Wari is offering free African food from Black chefs. The culinary program is meant to serve the community and also showcase the talents of local Black chefs.

The meals are available each Tuesday, Wednesday, and Saturday from 4-6 pm. Some of the chefs currently being cooking for the program in February include Andrew Hype (Jamaican cuisine), Lakea Osias (New Orleans cuisine) and Tina Fahnbulleh (Liberian & Ghanaian cuisine). March’s chefs have yet to be announced but for the time being you can simply show up and eat during the program’s hours.

The community meals program is also happening alongside other events like workshops and artist talks so there is plenty to do and see at Wa Na Wari this month.

Keep in mind that Wa Na Wari is ultimately a space for the Black community. If you are planning on checking out the space or community meal program please be sure to review the space’s community agreements.
