‘Largest Irish event in Canada’ set to return to Toronto this St. Patrick’s day

Toronto’s beloved street parades could finally be returning this spring, starting with the annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade. Organizers have announced that this year’s parade will take place on Sunday, March 20th, if Ontario’s reopening plan continues to move forward.

Described as “the largest Irish event in Canada,” Toronto’s St. Patrick’s Day Parade is an event that the city has looked forward to every year. It was among the first to get cancelled when the pandemic began and was called off once again in 2021.

This year, though, with the province slowly returning to normal life, the parade’s organizers are excited to welcome the public back to the celebration.

“The parade will begin at the corner of St. George and Bloor Street West at 12 pm and proceed down Yonge Street, turning left towards the review stand at Nathan Phillips Square,” the description says.

The event is one of several that have announced their plans to return to in-person festivities this year in Toronto, including The CNE, The Caribbean Carnival, Pride, the TD Jazz Festival, and Nuit Blanche.

Those who wish to attend the St. Patrick’s Day parade are asked to wear a mask if physical distancing can’t be maintained.

With bars and restaurants now open for indoor dining at 50% capacity, you’ll have plenty of spots to grab a pint of green beer after the parade.

And with Ontario’s groundhog predicting an early spring, maybe we’ll even have some great weather too!
