This historic Ontario village has a postcard-perfect vintage Christmas celebration

Vintage Village of Lights in Cumberland, Ontario welcomes all to step back in time and bask in the magic of the Christmas season with wonderful light displays and decor.

An all-season-worthy adventure, Cumberland Village is a historic place founded by United Empire Loyalists in the early 1800s, according to Ottawa Tourism.

“Today it’s home to a vibrant arts and crafts scene of quilters and weavers,” shares the site.

But for the holidays, the charming Christmas escape transports you to a “postcard-perfect” heritage village from the 1920s and ’30s.

Starting Nov. 29, 2024, and select dates thereafter, the Cumberland Heritage Village Museum will be decked out in twinkling lights and festive cheer from 4 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The whimsical experience will look straight out of an old Christmas postcard, where every corner reveals a new festive vignette or dazzling display.

Kids and adults alike will love catching up with Santa—he’s ready for his close-up, so don’t forget your camera!

Feeling creative? Channel your inner pastry chef by decorating gingerbread cookies.

History buffs and holiday enthusiasts can enjoy the seasonal heritage demonstrations, which bring old-timey traditions to life.

How much are tickets to Vintage Village of Lights?

As for admission, registration is required and it is priced at $26.14. According to organizers, each registration includes entry for up to six people.

If you’re going with a group of six or less, only one registration is required.

BUT, if you’re visiting from outside of Ottawa, the non-resident registration fee is $32.68 per group.

Registration for this must be done and submitted by 3 p.m. the day of.

Whether you’re visiting with friends or making it a family outing, the Vintage Village of Lights is a cozy, magical, and oh-so-festive experience you don’t want to miss.
