There’s a cascading waterfall in Ontario with two viewing platforms surrounded by piercing fall colours

One of the most picturesque waterfalls in the region and one of Hamilton’s most popular destinations is the perfect fall day escape. If you’re looking for something to do this season, head to Albion Falls. With two viewing platforms and a landscape surrounded by piercing fall colours, here’s why you should visit.

Located in Hamilton, Ontario, about an hour’s drive west of Toronto, Albion Falls is considered to be one of the most picturesque in the region.

It spans 18 metres wide and 19 metres tall.

“The Red Hill Creek in the east end’s King’s Forest tumbles over rock that’s been formed over time into steps and shelves, fanning outwards into a beautiful cascade of rushing water,” shares Tourism Hamilton.

“Albion Falls is a stepped jewel, classified as a cascade as it ripples over the Niagara Escarpment.”

The waterfall may be affected depending on the time of year.

How to get there

To see the falls in all its glory, you can embark on a leisurely hike around the Albion Falls area – about 6 km.

Park at Buttermilk Falls in the Oak-Knoll parking lot, located on Mountain Brow Blvd north of Limeridge Road E.

You’ll then have to take the Mountain Brow Side Trail towards Albion Falls. Here is where you can view the falls from a view stunning lookout points.

Because of how popular the falls are, Tourism Hamilton suggests planning your visit during off-peak times. That means early morning or weekdays are best.

Avoid parking on roadways if the parking lots are full, too.

Though it may be busy this Thanksgiving weekend, if you’re looking for a fun day trip, this is a great option.
