You can explore military vehicles and meet rescue teams at this two-day Calgary event

Tactical Days is returning to the Military Museums in Calgary this August, offering a behind-the-scenes look at the vehicles, equipment, and skills used by military members and first responders. Instead of your typical museum experience, you’ll have an opportunity to step beyond the exhibits and meet the people who use this equipment in their everyday work.

While a trip down to the Military Museums usually means stepping into the past, Tactical Days allows visitors to see the present-day side of this world, too.

Here’s a closer look at what’s going down during Tactical Days.

What to expect at Tactical Days

With two days of activities planned, there will be plenty to explore once you arrive at the museum. If you’re a vehicle enthusiast, Tactical Days will give you a chance to get a closer look at everything from military vehicles to emergency response equipment and police units, with displays set up throughout the grounds.

According to the Military Museums, one of the highlights of the weekend will be getting a closer look at the work of Canada Task Force 2 (Can-TF2), Calgary’s Urban Search and Rescue Team. The team responds to some of Canada’s most challenging emergencies, from structural collapses to major rescue operations.

At the event, visitors will be able to meet members of the team, see the tools that they rely on and learn more about what goes into this type of work. It’s also a great opportunity for anyone interested in emergency services or looking into a future career path to get a better idea of what these roles involve.

And along with the outdoor activities, admission to the event also includes access to the Military Museums’ galleries and exhibits. So once you’ve checked out everything going on outside, head inside and explore the history and current-day work connected to Canada’s military.

Everything you need to know before you go

If you’re planning on checking out Tactical Days, tickets can be purchased online ahead of time, but if you don’t have time to snag them, there will be tickets available at the gate. And, if you’re a first responder, you may be eligible for free admission with a valid ID.

So if you’ve ever been curious about the vehicles, training, and teamwork behind military and emergency response organizations, Tactical Days is the perfect chance to see it for yourself.
