If you love art, and enjoy supporting education and mentorship in Toronto, this event is for you. VIBE Arts, which is a charity dedicated to providing arts education and artistic
mentorship to equity-seeking groups, is bringing back its ninth annual Arts Effect fundraiser to the city this May.

Taking place on May 11 at the Broadview Hotel, the community event will include a public auction to raise funds for “the next generation of creatives”, and will include a curated selection of Canada’s finest contemporary works.

According to organizers, this year’s theme, “Vibrant”, which they describe as a nod to the post-pandemic world and the desire to inject colour back into our lives.

“This year is special as we gather in person again to raise funds for VIBE’s unique arts education and mentorship programs for equity-deserving communities across Ontario,” said Katie Hutchinson, Executive Director of VIBE Arts. “We’ve seen incredible demand for programs as people continue to struggle with mental wellness and a desire for community and connection during turbulent times”

Last year, VIBE Arts’ programming supported over 5,535 participants with 851 workshops in under-resourced communities and 106 mentorship training sessions. It also provided paid work for 94 artists and worked with 72 community partners.

“VIBE has really helped me with my growth and my artistry. They have presented me with new opportunities every chance they get,” said SRE, a youth artist on the VIBE Roster. “VIBE has grown my confidence and my networking. If it weren’t for VIBE, I wouldn’t have been presented the opportunities I have now outside of VIBE to grow my career and see myself as an artist.”

Tickets for the event are on sale now, and the public silent auction will go live on May 1.
