It’s shaping up to be an incredible start to ski season, and British Columbia is blessed with nearly too many options when it comes to snowy winter trails. And what better place to kick off your adventures than Vernon, AKA the Trail Capital of BC and one of the most beautiful, snowy spots in all of Canada?!
Transformed with holiday cheer galore, and soon, magical snowfall, Vernon is home to over 105 kilometres of winter trails to explore, making it Canada’s largest network of daily-groomed ski trails.
Start your journey at the scenic Sovereign Lake Nordic Centre, making your way to one (or all) of Stussi Sport, Sun Country Style, or the famed SilverStar Mountain Resort.
Prefer to hit the slopes for some downhill skiing or snowboarding? At SilverStar Mountain Resort just 30 minutes from Vernon’s downtown, you’ll find some of the lightest, driest, fluffiest snow around.
The world-class spot has something for every winter adventurer, with 3,282 acres of fresh powder and over 130 runs, according to Tourism Vernon. All that’s missing are the crowds!
In terms of holiday cheer, Vernon has already transformed with dozens of festive Christmas markets filled with handcrafted treasures.
From a cozy pop-up cider shop to free wagon rides at the 4th annual Farmstrong Christmas Market, to Vernon’s iconic “Frostival,” there’s certainly no Grinch energy here.
So if you’re planning a winter escape and want to dive into all things festive and cozy, you’re sure to have a blast in Vernon, and pick up plenty of locally-made, one-of-a-kind gifts to take home with you.
So there you have it, BC! If there’s one winter activity that truly embodies the best of the season, it’s a ski trip to Vernon.
Happy exploring!
