If you’re looking to check out the museums at Vanier Park in the new year, now is a great time to plan a visit. The Vancouver Maritime Museum and Museum of Vancouver have long offered pay-what-you-can admission on the first Sunday of the month, and now the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre joins them.
Starting Sunday, Feb. 1, 2026, museum-goers will get to pop into any (or all) of the three museums without paying the usual admission fees. This initiative makes some of the city’s most iconic museums more accessible, encouraging more opportunities for learning and connection.
“Vanier Park is home to some of Vancouver’s most exciting cultural destinations,” says David Jordan, executive director of the Vancouver Maritime Museum. “With monthly Pay-What-You-Can Sundays, we’re making it possible for everyone to explore the park’s museums, share experiences with family and friends, and discover the rich stories our institutions have to offer.”
Whether you want to step back in time and dive into Vancouver’s local heritage, explore Arctic voyages and maritime history in the Pacific Northwest, or get up close and personal with the galaxy at the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre’s planetarium, there’s plenty to inspire you and drive your curiosity at Vanier Park.
Pay-what-you-can days at the Museum of Vancouver, the Vancouver Maritime Museum, and the H.R. MacMillan Space Centre will occur on the first Sunday of each month.
We never stop learning, and these Vancouver museums just made it that much easier to continue the journey, regardless of background or budget.
