Get ready folks, because the Vancouver International Women in Film Festival officially kicks off tomorrow! The festival has been championing women filmmakers and creatives from all over the world for 16 years now. But, this is the first year that it’s gone virtual! Here’s a little more info.

First off- the films! This year, there will be 6 feature-length films and 26 short films to check out. These come from 26 countries around the world, from right here in Canada to Kyrgyzstan. Half of the feature-length films are Canadian though, and they include a thriller set in Vancouver, a documentary about a trek across northern Canada, and a drama focusing on a First Nations youth.

What’s more, the VIWFF will also be hosting online events for fans and professionals alike. This year’s lineup features artist talks, panel discussions featuring major organizations (like the National Film Board of Canada) and table reads of scripts created by Indigenous women.

The films and live-streamed events are available by themselves, or as part of a festival pass! So however you want to enjoy this amazing festival, you’ve got options! All you need to do is pick what you like, and that’s easy.
