It’s almost time to celebrate the Lunar New Year, which means a lot of restaurants in Vancouver are coming out with limited-time specials to mark the occasion. From a special afternoon tea service to a decadent multi-course meal, here are 6 special menus to check out in and around Vancouver this Lunar New Year.

From January 16th to 25th, the Heritage Asian Eatery on Pender Street is offering diners a special meal for four, available for dine-in or take-out. On the menu? Special LNY spring rolls with prawn and bbq pork, prawn toast, truffle siu mai, chili wontons, bbq roast pork, Gai Lan, and more.

A LNY afternoon tea service has arrived at Notch8 at Fairmont Hotel Vancouver, and there is no shortage of special treats to enjoy – and in a completely revamped and decorated space in collaboration with Vancouver-based Koncept Designs.

Led by Head Chef Danai Hongwanishkul, the menu celebrates the beginning of the new year with a selection of Fairmont’s LOT 35 Tea, along with sweet & savoury bites like the Chilled Char Siu Sablefish on Milk Bread, Hainan Chicken Steamed Bao, Red Bean Macaron, and a special re envelope with chocolate coins.

The afternoon tea special is now available through Sunday, February 19th, with spots available for 11 am, 1 pm, and 3 pm. The experience is $69 per person ($34.50 for children 12 and under). Specialty cocktails (in partnership with The Macallan) and wines are available as optional add-ons to the tea service.

For a taste of traditional Chinese fare with a modern twist, head to Mott 32. Group Chinese Executive Chef Lee Man Sing and his team have curated an amazing menu of specialty dishes that symbolize good fortune, good health, luck, and prosperity.

From January 20th to February 5th, guests can enjoy a special lunch or dinner via their a la carte menu, or order the Lunar New Year offerings as a set. Expect everything from the shareable Whole Lobster Salad with dried abalone, or a luxurious blend of Alaskan King Crab meat and E-Fu Noodles. They even have traditional handcrafted Fried Arrowhead Cakes to be enjoyed as a snack.

This contemporary Taiwanese spot is offering guests the chance to indulge in one of three (or all three) Rabbit Year Gift Boxes, complete with special sauces and pastes, as well as fortune cookies, vacuum-packed frozen meats like braised pork hock, sesame oil chicken, and much more. Boxes A and B are priced at $68 each, and Box C is priced at $158.

Rabbit Gift Boxes can be pre-ordered for pick-up or delivery between now and January 23rd.

Wild Sweets 

Dominique and Cindy Duby of Wild Sweets are offering several LNY sweets at their Richmond storefront and online – including a chestnut Lantern Cake ($54.99), Chinese New Year Tasting Gift Box ($48.88), a Chocolate Collections Gift Set($19.99), and several other gift boxes. Treat your loved ones to some special sweets between now and January 29th.

Phantom Creek Estates

And now, to drink. At Phantom Creek Estates, you can indulge in a limited edition LNY gift box featuring the 2019 Becker Cuvée and the 2019 Kobau Cuvée, packaged together with lucky red envelopes to bring health and prosperity in the new year.

Those interested in some vino to celebrate the occasion can order the gift box online for a limited time starting the week of the LNY for $200.
