If you’ve been waiting for the perfect time to hop on a ferry to Vancouver Island, we’ve got great news for you. Travellers will soon be able to travel between downtown Nanaimo and downtown Vancouver via a “fast ferry,” and by soon, we mean within a few weeks’ time!

Hullo’s two new high-speed passenger ferries (sthuqi’ and spuhéls) are officially home at the Nanaimo Port Authority’s Assembly Wharf, according to Vancouver Island Ferry Company. With bookings available as early as next week and sailings beginning August 14th, it’s the perfect time to start planning some late-summer trips to the Island!

Service info & cost

Starting August 14th, passengers can hop aboard for a 70-minute trip between the Nanaimo Port Authority (100 Port Drive) and Vancouver Harbour Flight Centre at Burrard Landing (1055 Canada Place).

Passengers can expect multiple daily sailings, with the first departing from Nanaimo at 6 am. Vessels will return to Nanaimo each evening with the last sailing departing Vancouver at 10:30 pm.

Note that while tickets can be booked from August 14th onwards, guests can keep an eye out for earlier sailing dates that become available for booking after July 28th. 

First-trip fares will start at $29.99 per online account, or $39.99 for regular fare. The price jumps up by $10 depending on which seating tier you choose.
