Let’s fly! Vancouver International Airport named the best in North America

Attention, travellers! The Skytrax World Airport Awards are out for 2024, which rank the world’s best international airports according to the input of over 13 million air passengers worldwide. While Vancouver International Airport (YVR) can’t claim to be the best in the entire world just yet – we can claim to be the best in North America, which is a pretty big deal considering it’s our 14th time securing this title!

The Skytrax ranking is the largest airport customer satisfaction survey in the world, ranking over 550 airports every year. This year, Hamad International Airport in Doha takes the #1 spot as the World’s Best Airport of 2024, followed by Singapore Changi Airport and Seoul Incheon Airport.

Best Airport in North America 2024

As for North America, YVR last received the top title in 2021, successfully navigating the pandemic and its impacts on air travel.

“Regaining our top spot as Best Airport in North America is a result of the dedication and hard work of our employees and everyone working here at YVR to serve travellers and our community,” says President & CEO Tamara Vrooman. “From the team greeting people at our front doors, to those who move cargo and bags, to security staff who keep us moving safely, to those to maintain and clean our facilities – 26,000 people work at our airport every day with pride and purpose.”

In addition to the dedication and efforts of its staff, YVR is recognized for its growing collaboration with global governments and airlines, which includes Air Canada’s new direct route to Singapore.

The airport has also taken great strides to increase passenger accessibility, including having a new Curbside Greeting program and sign language on information boards at each departure gate.
