The Vancouver Folk Music Festival is one of the most celebrated events of the summer. Lazy sunny beach days, a cool ocean breeze, and incredible folk music that will have you on your feet no matter how hot the sand is?? Sign us up!
Among the stars to grace the folk fest this year are Allison Russel, blues legend Taj Mahal, Asleep at the Wheel, Alejandro Escovedo, Vancouver’s own Stringband Sundae, and much more. Honestly, we could go on forever — the lineup is that good!
Let’s start with Blues Hall of Fame member and Grammy winner Taj Mahal, who has been making music for over 50 years—and still shaking things up in the industry. His many accolades aside, the artist transcends genre and operates from a deeply personal desire to make the music that “comes to him.”

Also in attendance is multiple Grammy, Juno and Canadian Folk Music Award nominee, Allison Russell. Songwriter and multi-genre artist by day (and activist 24/7), Allison has taken the Americana movement by storm.
Her amazing solo work on her debut album and 2021 album Outside Child, as well as her vocals for Birds of Chicago and folk supergroup Our Native Daughters, have all earned her international recognition.
