There’s a free community festival coming to town, and it’s got everything from food and drinks to live music and a pre-festival workout. Yes, you read that right. It’s a grand celebration of the creative spirit in the South Flats community with unbelievable local talent and even a collaborative art project. Here’s a rundown on what to expect at Flats Fest and when to be there.

Here’s what to know…

Start with a free community workout an hour before the event!  The workout will feature three fitness studios including Kin Culture, TurF, and Feel Good Fitness. Not only will you work up a sweat and boost your endorphins, but there is an opportunity to get a free meal voucher for the Food Truck Zone (while supplies last). If that isn’t motivation enough, we don’t know what is.

There will be live music performances from Canadian talent Hayley Wallis, Cody Lawless, and KAllITECHNIS. Let the tunes awaken your creative side, and pitch in on Paintillio, a custom collaborative art project featuring Coast Salish artwork by Cory Douglas. No need to bring your own art supplies, they’ll have everything you need.

After flexing your artistic talents, enjoy a cold one at the beer and bevvy garden courtesy of Red Truck Beer Company, Mark Anthony Wine & Spirits, and 1933 Liquor Co.  Or, you can grab a nice cup of joe from Nemesis Coffee instead.

There will also be a market at Flats Fest curated by Made in the 604. Shop handmade goods and unique finds brought to you by local small businesses. If you have little ones in tow, they can have a blast at the Kids Zone. There will be free ice cream (while supplies last), Science World live demonstrations, face painting, glitter tattoos, balloon art, , a bouncy castle, crafts, character appearances, and more.

Flats Fest is a free event packed with all sorts of prizes and giveaways. Win some goodies from Black Tusk Paddleboards, Mountain Equipment Company, Vancouver Community College, Ink Pad, Mark Anthony Group, Kin Culture, and The Hive.

We recommend taking transit, as there will be limited free parking available at 565 Great Northern Way and a free bike valet on Carolina Street.

Get your weekend crew ready, and excited to experience Flats Fest!
