The Vancouver Christmas Market will turn into a European village with a secret cocktail window

The most wonderful time of the year is just around the corner, and Vancouver’s largest and longest-running Christmas Market has announced its return this holiday season.

Vancouver Christmas Market is transforming Jack Poole Plaza into a huge German-style holiday event from Monday, Nov. 16, to Thursday, Dec. 24.

A popular holiday tradition for locals and visitors alike, the market features dozens of food and drink vendors, as well as plenty of artisans and makers at over 90 wooden huts.

There will also be festive activities, live entertainment, and five new experiences to enjoy this year as the market undergoes “the most significant expansion in its history.”

“There’s something about a Christmas market that stays with you,” said Malte Kluetz, founder of the Vancouver Christmas Market, in a release. “I felt it as a kid in Germany, and it’s what I wanted to give Vancouver when we started this sixteen seasons ago.

“Every year, we add a little more to the village, a new corner to discover, a new reason to come back. Watching people find them for the first time never gets old.”

The Vancouver Christmas Market will be adding five new additions for the upcoming holiday season, including new German Village facades at the market entrance.

There will also be a Wishing Forest where guests can write a wish on a wooden ornament and leave it for others to see in the interactive woodland.

You can also visit the new Secret Wall Cocktail Hut by ringing a bell in the Pyramid area to have Santa or the Grinch serve you your drink through a hidden window. Afterwards, you can relax by the Fire Pit Lounge with the latest collectible mug.

There are plenty of delicious drinks and savoury and sweet delicacies to keep you full while you explore the walk-through Christmas tree and check out all of the twinkling lights.

You’ll also want to sing along to the live entertainment happening on the Flying Stage on the second storey of the iconic Christmas Pyramid.

Of course, a visit to the market wouldn’t be complete without a ride on the carousel or a picture at the photo booth.

Season passes are on sale now, with general admission pre-sale opening Oct. 2.
