There’s a magical night walk through an illuminated BC forest to explore this winter

Do you love a snowy winter trail lit by ethereal lights? Vallea Lumina is a whimsical night walk through an illuminated forest that you won’t want to miss this holiday season.

The year-round experience takes visitors on a journey through some of Whistler’s most scenic forests, guided by twinkling lights and cryptic radio transmissions that tell the story of two lost hikers traversing a hidden world.

Every year, the 1.5-kilometre summer course transitions to winter (0.75 kilometres), adorned with fallen snow and dazzling, artistic light displays.

“This pathway leads toward a place filled with beauty and proof that the legends of Whistler are true,” reads the event’s website.

The scenic trail takes around 30 to 45 minutes to complete and is now available to explore nightly.

Location & info

The immersive, multimedia experience costs $49.49 per adult and $43.99 for youth, and is situated at Sixteen Mile Creek Forest Service Road, Whistler.

Round-trip shuttle service is available from the Whistler Village Gateway Bus Loop at no extra cost.

Note that pets are not permitted on the journey due to the sensitive ecosystems you’ll pass.

So there you have it, Vancouver! It’s time to layer up and enjoy an outdoor experience that’s filled with natural wonder, holiday magic, and whimsy!

Vallea Lumina – Winter Night Walk

How to get there: Drive one hour and 38 minutes from Vancouver to Whistler Village via BC-99 N. Then, take the shuttle from the Whistler Village Gateway Bus Loop to Vallea Lumina.
