Beach or mountains? This ‘majestic’ BC park has it all

Ready to uncover a stunning new provincial park? Valhalla Park is home to it all – from ‘majestic’ mountain peaks to ‘unique vegetation,’ to stretches of beaches for boaters, waterskiers, and canoeists to enjoy.

Named after the Valhalla Range of the Selkirk Mountains that encircle it, the scenic park is located on the west shore of Slocan Lake.

Hikers have ‘abundant’ trails to choose from, including short walks as well as backcountry traverses through the diverse wilderness.

Looking to spot some wildlife during your visit? The park is home to no shortage of mountain goats, white-tail deer, and golden eagles.

Camping info

Campers can take advantage of Cabins at Evans Lake, Cove Creek, and Evans Beach – all of which serve as public shelters for a maximum of four people respectively.

Wilderness campsites are also available on a first-come-first-serve basis, with facilities for campers situated at Gwillim, Wicca, Drinnon, Emerald, and Cahill Lakes.

Note that camping is only permitted in designated sites along established trails and on the Slocan Lake beaches. Pets are permitted at the Slocan lakefront sites, the Slocan to Evans Beach Trail, and the trail to Cahill and Beatrice lakes – though they must remain leashed.
