One Canadian spot named among the world’s most ‘underrated places’ to travel in the summer

From its tranquil mountains and bustling cities to everyone you might meet along the way, there is no place quite like the Great North.

For this reason, it’s not easy to choose just a single place to go when you need a vacation, but Condé Nast Traveler has published their 2024 list of underrated places to visit this summer and it only includes one Canadian destination.

“Planning the perfect summer trip can take weeks of research, preparation, and organization to ensure it goes off without a hitch,” they write.

“There’s a seemingly endless amount of great options out there, and while there’s nothing wrong with heading to the same familiar spot over and over again, sometimes you want to get a little off the beaten path and go somewhere you haven’t been before.”

Curious as to who made the cut?

This year the list was broken into two categories, U.S. and International, and their favourites may surprise you!

In America, the publication chose Finger Lakes, New York and Voyageurs National Park in Minnesota, as well as Isle Royal National Park in Michigan and Catalina Island in California. In addition, the San Juan Islands in Washington got a nod and so did Crystal River in Florida.

As for their worldwide wish list?

The following were mentioned and revered for everything from “jaw-dropping” scenery to architecture:

  • Kosovo
  • Budapest, Hungary
  • Copenhagen, Denmark
  • Buenos Aires, Argentina
  • Sardinia, Italy
  • Mauritius
  • Kyoto, Japan
  • Bora Bora
  • Quebec, Canada

Often “overlooked,” Condé Nast Traveler said that Quebec City has “all the same type of charm you’ll find in Europe but without the exceptionally long flight to get there.”

With Museums, Montreal’s open-air market, incredible food and heritage sites, they suggested that readers check it out in the sunnier months.

So there you have it, Canada! The most underrated Places to visit this Summer. Will you check out Quebec this year? Let us know and happy travelling!
