Here’s where the ‘Umbrella Academy’ cast loved to eat while filming in Toronto

The newest season of The Umbrella Academy has officially dropped, and as many fans know, much of the series was filmed in Ontario.

The cast spent a lot of time in Toronto and Hamilton during the filming of season three, and according to a Q&A with Netflix, they got to know both cities pretty well during that time, including its people and restaurants.

“Torontonians are some of the nicest people I’ve ever met,” said Justin H. Min, who plays Ben Hargreeves on the show. “They’re always apologizing for like, absolutely nothing, and I love it.”

Min also said that his favourite restaurant in Toronto is Pai, which is easily one of the city’s best Thai restaurants, so he made a good choice.

We’ve always known Toronto is obsessed with brunch, and apparently, our celebrity visitors have noticed too.

“You have brunches,” said David Castañeda, a.k.a. Diego Hargreeves. “Shakshoukas, you know what I’m saying?” Yes, we most definitely do.

The cast also commented on their favourite attractions in Toronto. According to the show’s Executive Producer Steve Blackman, they went to Canada’s Wonderland “on the rainiest day of the year” and went on all the roller coasters.

Tom Hopper, who plays Luther on the show, said that he and his family played ice hockey and threw snow balls in the winter during filming, and then canoeing and cycling in the summer.

“And then you’re in the wilds and go camping sort of 2-3 hours,” added Robert Sheehan, who plays Klaus.

“Toronto’s an awesome city to spend it, and it’s beautiful,” said Emmy Raver-Lampman. “You can go to Niagara […] you got that lake life, you got the cabin life, you can hop on a plane and go to Quebec or Montreal […] I think it’s got just a ton of stuff to offer as a city.”

We’d have to agree, Toronto is pretty damn great.
