Are you a fan of all things medieval, magical, and Renaissance-themed? Well, you’re in luck because the Washington Midsummer Renaissance Faire kicks off this weekend! This August you can enjoy 3 themed weekends that are sure to give you the renaissance experience of your wildest dreams.

This weekend on August 7th & 8th visitors will be able to watch as Merriwick is invaded by Pirates and the Great Horde during “Barbarians at the Gates”. If you’re visiting this weekend you’re encouraged to wear your best leathers, furs, hats, & boots to channel your inner Pirate. After all, you kind of need the full fit if you’re going to munch on massive turkey legs.

Then on August 14th & 15th, you’ll be able to step into a world of fantasy as Merriwick is taken over by faeries, witches, wizards, goblins, elves, dragons, and everything in between during “Myths & Magic”. It’s time to get out your wings and elf ears if you have them. You’ll be able to celebrate as the fairground becomes a world of lore and enchantment.

Finally, on August 21st & 22nd you’ll be able to step forward or back in time during “Wandering Thru Time”. The last weekend is focused on celebrating all things science fiction. So be sure to come dressed in a costume from any time period or as your favorite character from any sci-fi book, movie, TV show, story, or comic.

During each weekend you’ll be able to enjoy different live acts by the townspeople and royals of Merriwick. You’ll also be able to enjoy all sorts of eats from the food market and take home medieval-inspired wares from The Artisan Marketplace. Oh, and you can even camp at the fairground in case you have a little bit too much fun at the medieval pub. There are all sorts of options here and if you need a little escape from reality it’s well worth checking out. You can learn more and snag tickets you can click below.
