It’s flower power time! Toronto Tulip Day is rolling around the corner, and this year, there are literally thousands of free tulips up for grabs.
Head down to Nathan Phillips Square on Saturday, May 10, to pick up some beautiful spring bouquets of tulips. Some 40,000 (yes, you read that right) tulips will be given away to residents, until supplies last.
Hosted by the Netherlands consulate, Toronto Tulip Day honours the liberation of the Netherlands by Canadian troops during the Second World War. The country is known for its breathtaking tulip blooms, which draw thousands of tourists throughout the spring season.
This year marks a special anniversary, commemorating 80 years of liberation. “2025 marks the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Netherlands—a victory secured thanks to the courage, sacrifice, and dedication of Canadian men and women during,” reads a post from NLIN Canada, the embassy network of the Kingdom of the Netherlands in Canada.
No registration or entry fee is required to attend the tulip giveaway, just make sure to arrive early to score your bouquet of beautiful Dutch tulips!
And if you’re looking for more tulip action, don’t forget to check out U-pick farms across the province, including the JP Niagara Tulip Farm, which has over two million flowers.
