Your TTC route might be affected thanks to construction on Toronto’s King Street West. Here’s what to know.
Starting this February 18th, a portion of King St will face several infrastructure upgrades beginning with a water main replacement.
According to the TTC, streetcar tracks will also see a renewal. That means several TTC routes will be altered to accommodate construction.

These are the following routes that will change for the King Street West upgrades, from Dufferin Street to Shaw Street,
As for the upcoming construction, this will occur in five phases from February to December 2024.
The first phase is the water main replacement. Phase two will begin mid-May to late June 2024 and will see the renewal of the streetcar tracks on King Street between Dufferin Street and Fraser Avenue.
As for phases three and four, it will begin in June and continue to September 2024 – streetcar track renewal at the intersection of King Street West and Dufferin Street, then the top layer streetcar track renewal on King Street West from Fraser Avenue to Atlantic Avenue.
Phase five will begin in September and last until early December 2024. This will see the final top layer streetcar track renewal on King Street West from Atlantic Avenue to Shaw Street.
Though it may seem like construction never ends in Toronto, this will be over before we know it! And it’ll be worth it.
