“December and January were above average in terms of temperature running around 3 degrees warmer than the average,” said Environment Canada Weather Preparedness Meteorologist Peter Kimball in an interview with Curiocity. “The warm temperatures show no sign of letting up in February.”

Kimball revealed that this time of year the average temperature is around -2°C and according to the forecast, Toronto won’t be hitting that average to start out February.

From Wednesday to Monday, the forecast is calling for highs ranging from -1°C to 7°C, mostly staying in the 2°C area.

“Next week will continue to be much warmer than average, especially at the end of the week where long-range models show that warm weather will continue on the 8th 9th and possibly even the 10th and 11th of February,” said Kimball.

If the warmer temperatures weren’t enough – sunshine is on the way too. “The gloomy stretch is finally broken. Gloomy skies have finally lifted and Toronto can expect sunshine almost every day for the next week,” Kimball added.

If you’re hoping for snow, it likely won’t be anytime soon. “There are no big precipitation systems in the near future or next week,” Kimball told Curiocity.

“While signals can change rapidly – things are looking warm and dry to start February.”

Grab your sunglasses and enjoy the February forecast, Toronto!
