Autumn is a breathtaking time of year in Ontario and there’s no better place to witness its beauty than Algonquin Park. Thanks to Parkbus, you can take a day trip from Toronto to Algonquin and hike among the colourful scenery this fall.

Parkbus runs a series of day trips called ActiveDays, which includes shuttle bus transportation from Toronto to the best nature destinations around.

“Bring your hiking shoes, camera, and adventurous attitude, and come explore the trails of Algonquin Park,” the description says.

You’ll be picked up bright and early from Yonge and Bloor, and by 11 a.m., you’ll arrive at Track and Tower Trail Head in Algonquin to start your hike.

The Track and Tower Trail is a 7.6 km long hike that is considered moderate to difficult. It has many ups and downs and there are about 100 stairs at one point which lead to a beautiful lookout over Cache Lake.

You’ll have until 4:30 p.m. to explore the sights and if time permits, the bus will make a stop at Ragged Falls Provincial Park, where you can take another hour-long hike and see the rapids.

It’ll be a big day with one pit stop each way, and the bus is set to return at 9 p.m. or slightly later. However, given everything that you’ll get to see and do, it’ll all be worth it.

Just show up with your weather-appropriate clothing, a packed lunch, hat, bug spray, sunscreen, water, and whatever else you need for a day in nature.

This is the season to truly appreciate nature’s beauty in Ontario, and this excursion lets you see the best of it in one day.
