Pumpkin parades are back — a tradition here in Toronto. As usual, the parades will run on Nov. 1. It’s the official goodbye to spooky season as we welcome in the winter holidays.

So, what’s a Pumpkin Parade?

On the evening after Halloween, the City invites everyone to bring their jack-o-lanterns to a participating park for one last showcase of the season.

“Illuminate Halloween at Pumpkin Parades! Bring your best pumpkin carving creations to a participating Toronto park and cast a warm glow over the community,” states the City.

The City of Toronto also provides organic disposal bins to assist with clean-up after the event.

These bins will be collected and processed to create compost that can be used in City parks and gardens.

There are 53 parks in total to choose from this year. Some of the participating parks include:

  • Donneybrook Park
  • Sorauren Avenue Park
  • McCormick Park
  • Carlton Park
  • Berczky Park
  • Riverdale Park West
  • Withrow Park
  • Leslie Grove Park
  • East Lynn Park

Not only do your pumpkins get a final farewell, but you’re also contributing to keeping our green spaces healthy. A win-win.
