Toronto museums and galleries are waiting to be explored this winter. If you’re looking for a cozy activity now that the cold weather is here, why not check out one of these fabulous spots? A handful of museums and galleries in the city offer free admission which means you can explore, stay warm, learn something new and save some dough.

Third Tuesday Nights at the ROM
On the third Tuesday of each month, ROM-goers can enjoy free admission between 4:30 p.m. and 8:30 p.m. on a first-come-first-serve basis.
The free admission includes access to most galleries.

When: Every third Tuesday of the month from 4:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.
First Wednesday Nights at the AGO
Another popular Toronto museum with a free admission day to take advantage of.
On the first Wednesday of each month between 6 p.m. and 9 p.m. you can enjoy the waived admission cost, just be sure to book your free tickets online in advance to ensure you get a spot.
There is a limit of two tickets per booking.

Wednesdays at Aga Khan Museum

The Aga Khan Museum has a “permanent collection of over 1,200 masterpieces and innovative performing arts and educational programming” and on Wednesdays, you don’t need to worry about paying for admission.
The free admission promotion runs on Wednesdays during extended hours from 4 p.m. to 8 p.m.

Sundays at Bata Shoe Museum
If you’ve never checked out the Bata Shoe Museum, this is your sign.
Free to attend on Sundays, the museum displays over a thousand shoes and related artifacts while diving into the fascinating history behind them.
Secure your tickets ahead of time or at the door.

When: Every Wednesday from noon to 5 p.m
Fridays at MOCA
The Museum of Contemporary Art aka MOCA knows how to get your weekend started on the right foot.
Each Friday from 5 p.m. to 9 p.m., admission is free making this a great spot for date night.
Visitors can book in advance to guarantee entry or drop in at the door, just note that the last time slot for entry is 8:45 p.m.

Toronto History Museums
All 10 of the Toronto History Museums have free admission at all times!
According to the City of Toronto, this is “to provide everyone an opportunity to fully participate in cultural heritage and spaces.”
