When it comes to holiday treats, it doesn’t get more classic than gingerbread, and this year, the Toronto Gingerbread Festival will treat locals to a big dose of deliciousness.
The free neighbourhood-wide event will run for nearly an entire month at Yonge and St. Clair starting this Tuesday, December 13th.
The festival will feature a life-sized gingerbread display and gigantic installations, filling the streets with excitement and nostalgia.
The display will be unveiled between 5 PM and 7 PM this Tuesday, along with gingerbread-themed activities, a gingerbread man photo op, modern carolers, and ornament making.
But, what makes this event extra special is the interactive element. Visitors to the festival can scoop up a free gingerbread-building kit and join a contest for the best creation!

If you want to participate, here’s what you need to know.
The free gingerbread kits will be available at participating stores in the Yonge and St. Clair area, and the full list of them will be announced on Tuesday, December 13th on the festival’s website.
Once you have the list of businesses, you can hurry over and pick up your kit. They’ll be available on a first-come, first-served basis until December 21st.
You have until midnight on the 21st to build and post your gingerbread creation to Instagram with the hashtag #gingerbreadfestTO or email it to info@yongestclair.ca.
Be sure to use the kit provided, but you can totally get creative and enhance it with other edible materials.
The winner will be picked in a draw on December 22nd and will receive $300 in local prizes and participating store credits.
Throughout the festival, you can also enjoy all kinds of special deals and promos at local shops and restaurants.
