Major events officially returning to Toronto & here are the confirmed festivals

Toronto is coming in hot with some good news to kickstart your weekend. Mayor John Tory announced that major Toronto events and festivals are officially allowed to resume this spring and summer.

“Thanks to the progress Team Toronto has made on the vaccine front and other key health indicators, the city is ready to welcome back in-person events and festivals and to reignite the cultural vibrancy of the city,” said a City of Toronto press release.

After two years of cancellations and online-only events, we could not be more excited to hit the streets and celebrate our beloved city traditions in person.

The City has provided a list of all the in-person events, festivals, and parades we can look forward to in the coming months, starting with the St. Patrick’s Parade on March 20th and Doors Open Toronto on May 28th and 29th.

This summer, we can look forward to a full month of Pride Toronto events, an in-person Luminato Festival and TD Toronto Jazz Festival in June, as well as TD Salsa in Toronto Festival and Taste of Lawrence in Scarborough in July.

In August, the city will host its largest annual street festival Taste of the Danforth, as well as TD JerkFest Toronto and the popular Toronto Caribbean Carnival.

In September, TIFF will resume its regular 11 days of in-person programming and star-studded red carpets. Music festivals like Boots & Hearts, Osheaga, and VELD also plan to return this summer.

Looks like our long-awaited normal summer is on the horizon. Here’s to hoping that we’re finally out of the woods!
