This Toronto bar was named the best in Canada for 2023

With hole-in-the-wall pubs, popular bars, and beloved neighbourhood watering holes, Toronto has some of the best bars in the country. So much so that, according to this prestigious list, you’ll actually find the best bar in all of Canada right here in the city.

Canada’s 50 Best Bars list was just released, highlighting some of the most distinguished, admired, and loved bars from east to west.

The annual list was compiled by a team of over 60 experts from across the country, including a mix of bartenders, proprietors, distillers, brewmasters, educators, and more.

“This year’s edition of Canada’s 50 Best Bars celebrates drinking establishments of all types – from swanky speakeasies to cheerful public houses,” shares the team behind the list.

“The one common denominator is that they all offer much more than just the sum of their drinks.”

Well, if you’re a lover of a great cocktail, and you’re familiar with this annual ranking and bars in Toronto, then this year’s winner comes as no surprise.

Toronto’s Civil Liberties took the top spot as Canada’s best bar, for the second year in a row.

If you’ve ever found yourself in the area of Ossington and Bloor, you may have stumbled across this hub. It’s a hard bar to spot but when you do, you’ll be so glad you did.

It’s one of the very few Canadian bars that is dedicated to custom cocktail service, which means you can get a drink suited to your liking.

The bartenders and mixologists know their stuff and are happy to whip up a special beverage made just for you.

And if you have yet to experience Civil Liberties and its creations, do yourself a favour and stop by. It’s a small bar with a lot of heart and soul, shown through its offerings.

The full 50 best bars list features a handful of other Toronto bars as well so if you’re eager to try something new this summer, this is a great place to start.
