This renowned food & culture market is launching its second Canadian outpost in Vancouver

Get ready for a huge new (and delicious) development, Vancouver. Coming in 2024 is the city’s own Time Out Market, which is globally renowned as the first editorially curated food and culture market. AKA – a spot for the city’s best eats, from culinary experiences and cooking classes to local art and live entertainment.

According to the release, there are now seven Time Out Markets around the world, with over 120 chefs and restaurateurs. From James Beard award recipients to Michelin-starred chefs, Time Out Markets bring together the best each city has to offer.

The first Time Out Market opened back in 2014 in Lisbon’s historic market hall, which quickly evolved into one of the most popular destinations in the city. Likewise, Vancouver’s own Time Out Market could completely change the tourism landscape.

The market will set up shop in the new designated town centre, Oakridge Park, which is now officially under construction.

The new city centre

Oakridge Park will be comprised of mixed-use spaces. A slew of residential towers, a workspace, a 9-acre public park, and a one-million-square-foot shopping centre are some highlights. Furthermore, the city centre is expected to be one of the “busiest and most productive” in the country. So, get ready for some “significant employment opportunities” in the near future.

The market

Spanning two levels and 69,000 square feet in the shopping centre will be Vancouver’s own Time Out Market. So get ready to explore a collection of the city’s “best culinary and cultural experiences.”

“Visitors will get to taste food from top local chefs and renowned restaurateurs, sip cocktails from award-winning mixologists and enjoy music and entertainment from rising talents.”

Between 17 live cooking kitchens, three bars, a coffee shop, a cocktail lounge, and an open-air patio, we’re sure Vancouverites will have their hands full in terms of choices. And that’s just the start.

The market will seat around 1,400 people in a variety of indoor and al fresco dining spaces. And there will be a stage and a mix of arts & culture spaces with a focus on supporting local businesses and artists.

For now, stay up to date via Time Out Market Vancouver’s newly minted Instagram page, and we’ll check back in soon.
