TIFF is hosting a FREE film screening this weekend & here’s how to get tickets

The world’s largest public film festival is opening its doors for free this weekend. The Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) is hosting a free screening on Sunday, September 18, the final day of the festival.

On Sunday afternoon, TIFF will present a special showing of Elizabeth: A Portrait in Part(s) at Scotiabank Theatre Toronto, Cinema 12.

The film is in commemoration of Queen Elizabeth II with the support of Canadian distributor Mongrel Media.

This film “organizes archival footage and behind-the-scenes access into a series of chapters on the life of the longest-lived and longest-reigning monarch in British history,” according to the description by TIFF.

Complimentary tickets are now available to members and the public on Ticketmaster here.

You may want to snag yours as early as possible as this screening will likely sell out fast.

The screening comes just before the official federal holiday in Canada to mourn the Queen’s passing and to observe her funeral.

A commemorative ceremony will be held in Ottawa and cities across Canada and the world will hold tributes in her honour.

In Toronto, all transit services will halt and sound their horns for 96 seconds and the Old City Hall bell tower will ring during the tribute.

And this Sunday, you learn more about the late monarch while enjoying the last day of TIFF at the same time.
