This Ontario village with a scenic harbour is surrounded by brilliant colours in the fall

Tucked along the base of the Niagara Escarpment and the mouth of the Beaver River is a harbourfront village called Thornbury, Ontario. The area comes alive in the autumn, illuminated by the brilliant colours of fall. The village is worth the visit this time of year, and here’s how to plan your trip.

Thornbury, Ontario, is about two and a half hours from Toronto if you’re travelling by car.

The village is nestled between Meaford and Collingwood along Georgian Bay.

“Thornbury’s slogan is Four Seasons of Charming, which is quite an accurate statement. No matter the season or time of day, there is always something to do in Thornbury,” shares South Georgian Bay.

The first place to stop is the Thornbury Pier – known as the most iconic spot in the area.

On Thornbury’s main road, you’ll notice a lack of big-box or chain stores as it’s managed to maintain local boutiques and cafes, a perfect spot to stroll during the day.

Some shopping options include Tigs, Nantucket & Co., Thornbury Antique Market, and The Georgian Artisan Market.

Autumn brings changing colours all around the village, too. Little River Beach Park offers waterfront views, and during the fall, it’s even more stunning.

End your day with some food and a beverage, because obviously.

Bruce Wine Bar serves up some of the area’s best food and, of course, amazing wine by the bottle and by the glass. Of course, Thornbury Craft Cider House and Taproom is a must-visit, known for serving up some of Ontario’s best cider.

So, will you be stopping in Thornbury soon?
