In addition to being one of the most ‘affordable’ waterfront homes in Metro Vancouver, this hidden house also comes with some pretty amazing provenance. That’s because, for the last 40 years or so, it has belonged to none other than Tommy Chong, of Cheech & Chong fame.

Built in 1937, the home is tucked away along the water, and just off of Marine Drive near Caulfield Park. It should be noted that you won’t be getting expansive ocean views from your kitchen, since the lot is wedged between two, much larger, estates. Hopefully, your new neighbours are kind enough to invite you over for a beer!

However, there’s still quite a bit to enjoy throughout the home. Drenched in natural light, the home has just over 4,000 sq. ft. to call your own, and an open floor plan that makes interior design a breeze. Our idea? Well, obviously, the home of such an iconic stoner deserves at least one ‘meditation space’, and preferably in front of a window.

Of course, this is a family home by design, so don’t worry about room to breathe. There are 4 bedrooms and 5 bathrooms, tons of space for entertaining guests, and a wood-burning fireplace serving as the centrepiece of the family room. In short, everything you need for your next board game night.

According to the listing, Chong has owned this home since way back in 1979. Want to guess what he paid for it back then? Alright, we’ll tell you- $230,000. And while adjusted for inflation it wasn’t cheap, that $880,000 or so in 2021 dollars is still a fraction of the $5.49m being asked today. But, we’re sure you could look at any 1979 sale price in Vancouver and your eyes would pop out of your head. Still, it’s a fun fact!

Just like how the future owner of this home will have a fun story to share when friends ask who the previous owner was. For more information on the home of Tommy Chong being up for sale, you can check out the listing right here.
