This Marda Loop diner makes pancake art almost too cute to eat

Whether it’s covered in sprinkles or topped with a cherry, we love an aesthetically pleasant bite. Food just tastes better when it’s rolled in edible glitter or shaped like a recognizable character. We’ve seen your Instagram posts and know that you guys dig a fancy feast just as much as we do, so here’s another to add to your list – Calgary’s Belmont Diner.

This Marda Loop cutie is known pretty well in the area for their all-day breakfast, laid back diner vibes, and their pancake art.

We’ve all seen it done on Facebook, Instagram, and Tik Tok, but it’s really something else when it’s on your plate. We’d be lying if we said that we haven’t tried it ourselves, and man is it a hell of a lot harder than it looks.

From Harry Potter to mermaids and farm animals, the Belmont diner is happy to draw pretty much anything on their griddle, within reason, of course. Do they come out perfect every time, no – but it’s super fun and at the end of the day, it’s still a pancake.

Check it out, folks! Honestly, where else will you be able to say that you ate a dinosaur or Chewbacca?

Where: 2008 33rd Avenue SW, Calgary
